I think computers are a great tool as long as we humans control them and not the other way around. I realize that email can reduce "phone tag", however I still communicate mostly over the phone, and the nature of my practice requires that I respond to numerous calls. I do not feel it best to discuss clinical issues using e-mail. Efficiency and the concern that something crucial might be missed make using the phone a better tool for me. I do think e-mail is useful for logistical questions and for sending reports as long as both parties feel their privacy is being respected.
